I don’t understand why you won’t do anything about it Chuck? It’s nice of you to have town halls and go to ice cream shops around the state but we need better than that now.

Grassley admitted he will never get an answer to his questions about Hegseth. He knows he has no standing despite his tenure and MAGA loyalty.

He loves to posture as Mr. Oversight but he never pushes back against Republican presidents.

“I just can’t be bothered by bad things really happening. Next question.”

Indeed the very definition of Pollyanna: noun

an excessively cheerful or optimistic person. 👍

If Lloyd Austin would have pulled a stunt like that, I'm quite sure Grassley's response would have included two words: "court martial."

How about they all just do their jobs??? Wouldn’t that be a novel idea?! These elected representatives have no conscience, no moral compass, and no dignity!!!! They need to be voted out!

Grassley laid down with dogs, now he has fleas.

Incredibly sad and demeaning bunch of fancy dancing by our senior Senator.

Maybe Joni could ask for him?

Turns out being able to do 100 pushups isn't a substitute for being qualified to do your job. Who would have ever known? The bottom line is Grassley voted to confirm him and without that vote Hegseth wouldn't be Secretary of Defense.

Iowa Farmers Union President Aaron Lehman: "Do you feel the administration is listening to you and getting the message?"

Grassley: "No, it's too early for me to draw any conclusion..."

From the Iowa Farmers Union virtual town hall with Senator Grassley on February March 3. Link to the full video, this exchange is at minute 27.

Was the administration listening to the senior senator? No. Apparently they still aren't and Grassley isn't even trying to be heard.

Someone should explain to the Senator the term “advise and consent” and its relation to cabinet picks and other high offices. If not fully justified, a president shouldn’t get whomever he or she wants to fill a position. If we didn’t know this before, we sure should now.

If anyone ever expects Grassley to hold his Repub cohorts responsible for their ignorance, vindictiveness or abuse you haven't been paying attention to him for far too long.

Julie Biddle's avatar

No- the president does not "get the cabinet members he wants". He nominates who he wants, and the Senate must confirm them.

Dave Spencer's avatar

And that’s all he has to say about it…nothing really strong about convicting the guy of treason…

Grassley “won’t ever get an answer” if he never asks the question—and that the problem with him! He is not doing enough to protect our democracy!

I don’t understand why people still vote for this pitiful, older man👋
