Hope you all are enjoying a restful holiday and will have some time with people you love. I was up early to talk about Iowa politics with Greta Brawner during a brief segment on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal. The clip starts around 1:57:30 on this video.
I’m planning to do some exercise and some reading later, having just finished a couple of Iowa election-related posts (about low Democratic turnout and recounts in state legislative races). My other newsletter will go out this weekend with links to everything recently published at Bleeding Heartland.
We didn’t travel this year and are keeping it simple with a meal at home, just for immediate family. So I don’t expect to have a lot of leftovers. But if you do, here are some of my favorite ways to use leftover turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, bread or dinner rolls, and cranberry sauce.
Tomorrow (Friday) at noon, the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative will hold our monthly “Office Lounge” Zoom for paid subscribers. Dave Busiek will moderate, and many of us will be there to answer questions.
If you are a paid subscriber to my column, you should be able to find the Zoom link near the bottom of this post, below the paywall. If you subscribe to another one of our our newsletters and that author doesn’t send you a link, email Julie Gammack: julieokobojiwriters@gmail.com.
