On a related note, today (Wednesday) I will attend an Iowa Senate subcommittee meeting on the bill giving pesticide manufacturers immunity from lawsuits. Last year the Senate approved this legislation but it never came to the floor in the Iowa House.
I'm trying to find the status of HF-10. It is in reference to replacing School Nurses with Athletic Trainers. It looks like it's dead, but I would like to know for sure. Can you help?
Nothing is dead yet--there is plenty of time for committees to consider and approve bills before the first "funnel" deadline in March.
The bill you are thinking of is House Study Bill 10. A subcommittee advanced the proposal, but as far as I can tell, it has not been brought before the full Health and Human Services Committee.
Hunger in Iowa--Children and Families---"Hunger in Iowa is on the rise"!
Recommendation to Iowa Democrats: Make this a "Top Issue" in Iowa Legislature!
It is not only a Winning Political Issue---more importantly---it is the Right Thing To Do, For Iowa and Iowans!
Iowa---the Heartland of America; the Bread-Basket of the World---
But, Where is the Heart; and Where is the Bread!
Since 2017, at least, according to recent information published by the Food Band of Iowa and Feeding America----In Iowa, 344, 550 Iowans (including, 110,500 children) do not know where their next meal is coming from!
Estimated, additional spending, required, to meet/resolve the above food insecurity problem, would be about $250,000 million.
In 2024, spending by USAID was about $32 Billion (foreign countries).
According to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, in 2024 Iowans wagered more than $2.8 Billion in Sports, up 14% compared to 2023.
Clearly, the "status quo" political/economic leaders in Iowa, and the U.S. Congress (Senator Ernst, etc.), are failing Iowa and Iowans!
Iowa Democrats, in the Iowa Legislature, should take the lead, in raising/resolving the Hunger Problem, the Food Insecurity Problem, in Iowa.
So, to paraphrase the title of the book, "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men", by James Agee---"Let Us Now Not Praise Famous Men/Women," ---until Hunger Fear/Insecurity is ended in Iowa!
I imagine the "key agricultural issues" are not banning pesticides so all we will be getting are the unhealthy ideas

Correction---"Food Band of Iowa", spelling error----should be--"Food Bank of Iowa"--
2nd, final correction---$250,000 million, error---should be "$250 million"
