Why would anyone want a governor who won’t feed children? Her pro life stance is nonsense and a contradiction in terms. I am so happy you wrote about this today, Laura, and could give us the numbers and data. This information is a powerful tool.

Kim Reynolds is turning Iowa nice into Iowa awful.

Did I understand this correctly? The governor’s “food for kids” program is a COMPETITIVE grant program? Gives new meaning to the term “Hunger games,” doesn’t it?

More tax breaks for the wealthy, kids go hungry and nursing home residents suffer and die. Iowa Nice doesn't exist in today's Republican party. How long will it take for Iowans to vote for those who place education, kids, seniors, the environment, etc. at the forefront of policy? The Republican trifecta has done deep damage to Iowans, and the reputation we used to enjoy.

My very unscientific research consists of dumpster diving for soda and beer cans in a 16 unit apartment house in a town with almost 4,000 people, tells me a lot about how poor people spend their money on food. If you can imagine throwing away a whole turkey, still in the packaging, or single pounds of hamburger never opened, or whole trays of porkchops never cooked tossed into a dumpster, that is a reality that I see. Pizza boxes, and plastic take out containers by the score is what I find, soda and power drinks that exceed over 1,000 the last three months. People eating off paper plates, and most of what they eat is carbohydrates in the form of pasta and tomato sauce or cheese sauce, left overs are simply tossed. Chicken from to-go places and even McDonalds stuff that you have to drive ten miles to get to! How you fix this when you see food bank bags of simple things for kids to eat consisting of sealed fruit cups, individual cans of soup, granola bars and fairly healthy choices aren't even unwrapped after the first bag is inspected and the whole lot is ditched in the dumpster! Boxes of food from the different food banks are brought home and they are picked through for what they want and the rest again, is unloaded in the dumpster! Some hit every food bank in the area each and every time they are opened and most of the loot ends up in the dumpster, especially anything that is low sodium or no salt! Providing food is necessary, if for no other reason than at least someone would be helped. Turning away federal dollars to try and change this in unforgivable! Trying to replace it with $900,000 worth of "grants" is incomprehensible! This simply needs to be stopped, and the only way to do it, is to elect those with better agendas to the legislature and to state offices!

Reynolds certainly likes her competitive grant programs. Make things as difficult as possible and eventually people will stop asking or no longer have the capability or energy to apply.

#FarmToSchool breakfast and lunch for every child in America.

#FarmFamily for every SNAP and WIC recipient.

Stop the subsidy of the toxic industrial Agri business model. America needs real food made by an agriculture model. The environment obviously suffers from the status quo, beyond imagination!

Let’s quickly analyze the policy proposals. Kids will learn far better in behavior will improve with a full belly full of real food. There’s a program doing this all over the nation teaching the kitchen people aquire skills and knowledge, the kids about food and nutrition. He’s had 100% success rate.

The local farmers obviously love it to.

Based on that model the 400,000,000,000+ in those two government nutritional programs would be spread throughout small family farms in America instead of the toxic industrial agribusiness model. As well as improving those peoples life, thinking skills, energy, everything. we all know, food is medicine.

I’m super grateful you pointed out this egregious insulting token. I hope a quality solution is something value awesome. Thank you so much
