Those gathered around Mike Zimmer in your first photo are all from Jones County Democrats who assisted in post cards, and door knocking to help Mike win outside our county. It may not be significantly important in this race, but more so as these races come up, and the ground game becomes an important part of how Democrats can make a difference to over turn the Republicans in the future. Regardless, a win is still a win! That win and others like it will benefit us all, and the need to follow suit on making it happen, even outside your home district is VERY important! I salute those who went out of the county on their own dime and helped Mike win from Jones County!

Maybe there is a working blueprint on how to recruit and campaign now. Strategies and hard work to try and flip a few more seats in the Iowa State House will demand contribution from all corners of Iowa. Hopefully a start has been made.

Postcards are a small but critical part of a strong ground game..

There is something really amazing about reading a Bleeding Heartland election post-mortem. But when the hero wins the day and the entire team gets to take a victory lap, that's not only amazing but really fun! And it's really really fun to have an unexpected victory to celebrate in Iowa this week.
