Do you have any ideas about the reasons why Abshir Omar made such a drastic political conversion? The piece he wrote for Bleeding Heartland about his background and coming to the US was so inspiring. So sad to see him "turn to the dark side".
American politics doesn't seem to take long in ruining people's ideals that lead to corruption. I really enjoy your work, thanks for the links. I am currently off work after knee surgery and money is really tight. There are so many in the Iowa Writer's Collaborative that I wish I could fully subscribe too. Maybe he was always more interested in promoting himself than in any ideology, I have no idea.
I haven't kept up with him at all. It seems like he was involved with some dodgy things.
